Nursing Care
CCH believes in offering a safe, caring, accepting environment in which nursing care enhances our residents' well-being. The care team recognises the individuality of each resident and aims to assess and address his or her total physical, mental and spiritual care needs.
The core nursing standards ensure that:
- nurses and care staff maintain the residents' confidentially rights
- the residents' personal hygiene is maintained in accordance with their needs and safe practice
- an environment is provided in which residents are given the opportunity to express, explore and address their concerns/distress
- each resident has their nutritional needs assessed and addressed
- the resident is provided with the information they seek relating to diagnosis and progress of their condition, care options and support services, enabling them to make informed choices
- each resident has their elimination needs assessed and addressed.
- standards are maintained when compiling each resident's individual care plan
The care team utilises a system whereby each resident on admission is allocated a Key Worker. This Key Worker, in consultation with the resident and their relatives, devises the resident's care plan and is responsible for ensuring that his/her team colleagues follow that plan. Arrangements are made to ensure that the care plan is followed when the Key Worker is not on duty.
The Key Worker system aims to:
- maintain our philosophy of respecting the resident as the primary focus of care
- improve continuity of care to the resident
- improve nursing and caring standards
- develop an individualised service for each resident
